Alexandria Tournament Rules and Regulations

1. All games will be played under USA Hockey Rules as modified by Minnesota Hockey. USA Hockey registered referees shall officiate all games.
2. Not more than three adults (coaches and managers) will be allowed in the player box while the game is in progress. The roster must be furnished to the scoring box prior to each game for the scorers and the announcement of the starting line ups.
3. All games shall consist of three periods of actual playing time. Each period shall be 15 minutes stop time. In the third period if one team is ahead by six or more goals, running time will be used until the margin is lower than six goals; then stop time will be used again.
4. Penalty time-2 minute minor, 5-minute major, 10 minute misconduct. Fighting is automatic game misconduct. The player is out for the remainder of the game and the next game.
5. All players must wear helmets with full-face guards. Helmets must be worn by all players when on the ice or in the players bench or penalty boxes. Form fitted or colored mouth guards only.
6. In the event of a tie game at the end of regulation time, the following procedures shall be followed:
a. There will be a two-minute rest period.
b. The teams shall not change ends.
c. Overtime will be conducted on a 5-minute running time (sudden death) with 5 on 5.
d. If neither team has scored during the 5-minute period, the two teams shall be allowed a two-minute rest period and another 5-minute running time (sudden death) with 4 on 4 will follow.
e. If neither team has scored during the second 5-minute period, then a 3-player shoot out from each team will follow.
f. If neither team has scored during the shoot out, each coach shall choose three different players from each team for another shoot out. This shall continue until one team wins.
g. Any overtime period will be considered part of the game and all unexpired penalties will carry over to the next period.
7. The “no body checking” rule and “no slap shot” rule for squirts will be enforced.
8. A Physician, certified athletic, or emergency medical technician will be present at each game.
9. A Zero Tolerance rule applying to Coaches, Players and Spectators will be enforced.
